Summer’s Over… Now the Fun Begins

I know it isn’t officially over for almost 3 1/2 weeks. but when school starts… It’s over.  Fun starts, fun for me anyway.  Although, I think my kids are ready to go back.  My eldest now has wheels, God help us.  My youngest enters eighth grade taking three high school classes.

I personally cannot wait for all of the choir concerts music_note, music auditions, theatre auditions, productions, etc. that make a school year.  Yeah, I know.  The really important stuff in life it isn’t to most, but it is what makes going to school worth while for my two.  The eldest anyway.  The youngest won’t admit that he likes the fact that he does well in choir and was the only boy in his grade to make All-Region choir, a Class I at solo & ensemble, the only seventh grader to sing with the High School boys at our cluster concert, etc.  I think he’d like drama if I could get him to actually join.  He is an introvert with a comedian just waiting for release.

Tomorrow, I start off my son’s year with a bang – volunteering at his school, helping kids find classrooms, etc.  He’s mortified on the outside smile_sad, but I think he’s pleased on the inside.

I had to post a picture I found today of my daughter’s first day of kindergarten.  She was 5 about to turn 6.

I Finally Did It…

I bought my daughter a mode of transportation.  Me.  The biggest chicken.  She turns 18 in 10 days cakeand I hope I won’t regret it.  Did she want a nice little sedan?  No.  Would I allow her a two-door sporty coupe? carNo.  Given a choice between 2 cars and a nice little pick-up, what did she pick?  A pick-up.

I’m glad we bought it, because it was a good deal.  But… My sister said it best, “It is the most terrifying, liberating thing I would ever do.”  smile_confused

She’s right.  At least now if something happens, my car can at least take me to her.  Which wasn’t possible when she’d take mine and I was stuck at home with no way to get to her.

So, I’ll be waiting, chewing my nails, until she gets back from showing all her friends her new (to her anyway), cherry red, Chevy.  smile_whatchutalkingabout

Wish us luck.  fingerscrossed
