Boycott Valentines Day?

Previously, I posted various reasons why I dislike the month of February.  Today, my friend Amie posted a blog at Southern Fried Chicas advocating the boycott of Valentine’s Day (VD for short).  I must say…”Why didn’t I think of it first?”  There are some great comments on the topic.  Go check ‘em out.  It seems to be a popular topic in the blog world.

In a way, VD is very similar to the disease.  It started out as a small idea (a virus imposed by a greeting card company) that has spread commercialism among seemingly smart developed, and some not so developed, countries.  Capitalism at its best, I suppose. 

I suggest that the World Health Organization work on development of a containment strategy.  Especially since the spread of VD hasn’t managed to instill more love in the world.
